Description

This latest image set of The emission Nebula NGC 1499 otherwise known as the California Nebula captured from Grand Mesa Observatory using 2 cameras, the QHY128C for color and the QHY11 for the narrowband (hubble palette) for this setup I’m using twin Takahashi E-180 Astrographs mounted Tandem (side by side). By using 2 identical fast astrographs telescopes, both equipped with identical size sensors not only means we can capture twice as much data but by using one camera for broadband color (QHY128C CMOS) and the other (QHY11M) with narrowband filters sensitive to H-Alpha, OIII and SII we are able to cover a much broader spectrum and provide several versions of the same object in a much shorter time frame than otherwise with a single detector.

In order to show you the different views captured and the multiple colors generated from the different gases I prepared this short video

Total Acquisition Time 11.3 hours
